What is Beavers?
Beavers is the Section for the youngest members of the Scout Group. Until the early 1980's the first Section of the Scout Group was Cubs but in 1982 Beavers admitted children from 6 years old into Scouting. Children can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday.
They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between 8 and 8½ years old. A Beaver Section is known as "a Colony". The 5th/10th Scout Group has two Colonies of about 20 boys and girls. Brooker Colony meets each Wednesday and Chennel Colony each Friday during school term time. The adult leaders of the Colonies are called Acorn, Hazel, Holly, Rowan, and Owl.
Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beavers do lots of fun things, playing games, going on visits and helping others. Importantly they will make lots of new friends. Details about the activities are on the 'What's on' page.
To find out more about the 5th/10th Beavers speak to one of the leaders - details are on the contact page.
