Active Explorers

Explorer Scouts are girls and boys usually aged between 14 and 18 years old. They make up the fourth section of the Scouting family.

Explorers participate in a range of activities such as camping, caving, rock climbing, mountain biking, canoeing ......

Fitting around other activities

Because young people lead such busy and hectic lives and have so many demands on their time with responsibilities at school and college, work and home. Explorer Scouting is designed to fit into those lives.

Explorer Units operate in a way that is flexible so that physical, intellectual and social needs can be satisfied.

They learn teamwork and leadership skills through activities that are exciting, challenging, adventurous and great fun.

The Explorer Scouting is designed to fit with other activities and can lead to the achievement of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award and the Queen's Scout Award.

These represent the highest level of achievement. Employers place great value on young people that have demonstrated the necessary level of commitment to gain these awards.

So Explorer Scouting is not only good fun .........it can help your career and employment prospects too!

The 5th/10th Explorer Unit, known as 'Europa', meets each Wednesday during term time.
