I am in contact still with Pete and I met Grace often, they had a special relationship which I was proud to know. I also know Brian Higgins as my step-father was a scout with the group.
In terms of my career, I am an experienced independent disability consultant and trainer. As I said, I also have cerebral palsy, which affects my speech, mobility, hand control, balance, continence and sense of humour (in a positive way!) Despite my challenges, I hate saying that as I just see them as life, I been very successful in many things. My greatest achievement, which has been recognised by Gordon Brown, is Wheelies, the world's first disability themed virtual nightclub which I founded in 2006 in Secondlife, which has supported 1000s of people around the world and still received a lot of publicity, I am going to be in the Mail on Sunday soon.
As a cub and scout, I took part in all the activities. As a sixer, my six often got 11 out of 10 during inspection and I was proud that within an mainstream environment, I had responsibility. I went on the camps etc etc. My highlight was WS88 where I organised the sale of our 60th anniversity badges and even sold one to the chief scout I think. I also wrote a long piece of the life of BP. After a very wet trip to Brownsea Island, I made contact with Terry Bonfield, one of the original scouts.
Cubs and Scouts were important to my social and leadership skills which put me in great stead form much bigger arenas as I done youth work across Europe.
