How to Join

How to Join

If you would like your child to join the 5th / 10th Horsham Scout Group we suggest that you come along and give it a try for a few weeks. Visitors are always made welcome and most go on to join.

To enquire about joining a section of the 5th/10th Horsham Scout Group, use the enquiry form below and we will try to get back to you as soon as possible.

If you need to know where we are, have a look here.

When your child visits he/she should wear normal clothes. If you decide our Group is right for your child he/she will be required to wear a uniform which can be bought from Broadbridges, Piries Place, Horsham, or you may be able to get some items that have been donated - our members just keep on growing! Please ask a leader if you would like to make use of our stock of uniforms.

After a few weeks new members are 'invested', becoming full members when they receive the Group scarf and badges.

Before a young person is invested he/she must learn the Laws of Scouting and be ready to make a Promise relevant to each Section. Parents are encouraged to make themselves aware of the Promise to ensure you are happy for your child to make it.

Subscriptions

When your child becomes a member of the Group you will be asked to pay the following charges:

Subs - £6 per month (paid by standing order)

This covers the running costs of the Group, Sections, insurance and fees to District, County and the National Scout Association

On joining - £15

A one off fee is also payable on joining the Group. This contributes to the cost of the Group scarf , badges and the activity T-shirt.

Please pay the joining fee when your child is invested. Cheques should be made payable to: 5th/10th Horsham Weald Scout Group.

If you are a tax payer the Group can benefit financially if you agree to GiftAid your payments. Please complete the Gift Aid declaration form and hand it to your child’s leader with your joining fee left click here.

For the safety and well being of your child we require certain information left click here. Please print the Personal Details form and hand it to the leader of the Section your child is joining.
