Night Hike! 12/02/2010

On Friday 12th February 2010, 40 Scouts from the two troops took part in a night hike culminating in a sleepover @ our Scout HQ. The hike distance was 11 miles, with the Scouts divided into 8 patrols with younger Scouts starting first and were walking with Leaders/Young Leaders, whilst the older patrols went last and were unaccompanied. Several memorable expeiences took place including crossing a field with young bulls and one group encountering a rough-sleeper in the Country Park. Everyone was back to the hut by 3am and managed to get some sleep before it was time to get up and cook breakfast at 07:30.

In the morning, breakfasts were cooked in the hike patrols and most scouts had a full english fry up followed by more pancakes than anyone would believe would be possible! With very little persuasion, the cooking equipment was cleaned and put away carefully in our stores. A great night hike made easy by good planning and plenty of adult and Young Leader support.
