2019 Lions Swimarathon
On the 17th of March 2019, six teams from 5th/10th Horsham took a plunge in order to raise money for the Jigsaw foundation and future scouting endeavours of their own! The teams ranged from: the youngest of Bennetts and Higgins cubs; the scout groups of Beacon and Denne; to the oldest of Europa explorers; and the leader team which included, Scout and Cub leaders, our treasurer (Liz Ratcliffe) and even the group scout leader (Beverley Bell)!
The event started at 15:00 and finished at 15:55 – which meant 55 minutes of constant cheering, lengths and number flipping for our counters. Bennetts and Higgins cubs were amazing with a massive total of 87 and 86 respectively – which is fantastic! Next was Denne scout troop with a score of 93 lengths, then the leader team with a surprisingly impressive score of 103. Finally, Beacon scout troop and Europa explorers scored an impressive 126 and 151 lengths overall! It was an amazing effort from all the sections with a massive amount of lengths completed (making any sponsor who paid per lap nervous) and raised a huge amount of money which will support the Jigsaw foundation, as well as funding some new Scouting adventures in the upcoming terms.
